Voie Verte: Ramonville – Toulouse – Ramonville

Today is truly the first day of spring.  It is 16C.  I drove to Toulouse – to spend some money at IKEA – and then I headed in the car about 12 km south of Toulouse to Ramonville-St-Agne.

From Ramonville-St-Agne I cycled along the Canal du Midi into Toulouse at the start of the Canal du Midi opposite the Hotel Ibis Ponts Jumeaux:

I had my Nikon D200 strung around my neck and took a few photographs:

I always wear my UTAG ICE (In Case of Emergency) which was a gift to me in 2010 from Ian and Jeanne CROOKE who will be here for the whole of July 2011 and hopefully the whole of August too.

Today is the Spring Solstice and it is also the first day that I didn’t use my winter cycling outfit. It was a bit chilly on the 10 km ride into Toulouse – there was a northerly of 10 kph blowing. You will see from the Garmin stats that the return sector was four minutes faster.

I wave at and greet almost everyone I pass on the Canal du Midi, particularly the pretty French ladies. On this part of the Canal they must surely have the most beautiful women in the whole of South West France. Breathtaking and hugely distracting at the same time.

Would love to cycle the Canal in July – can we hire bikes and go with you?
